As predicted in several quarters, the team went with the time-honored Seals as their nickname. Other popular suggestions from the public were Golden Gaters, Penguins, Blades, and Vigilantes. Donald Naify of San Francisco won the prize of a trip for two to the regular season opener in Los Angeles.
