Meet the Team
Paul Lippman of the Examiner took a third of a page to flesh out the team, saying Harry Pidhirny and Duke Edmundson were the highest paid centers in the WHL. Pidhirny was a playing assistant coach and the team's captain on the ice. Edmundson, for his part, was missing most of his front teeth and was deemed an excellent penalty killer and puckhandler, and was one of the hardest hitters in the league. Nick Mickoski was the veteran showing the youngsters the ropes. Right winger Buddy Boone was another hard hitter and Bob Solinger was reckoned a fine shooter, as was Al Nicholson. Barney Krake was a youngster with potential and Gord Redahl was pushing 30 with one last chance to use his superior skating to make the big time. Yves Locas was a fine backchecking forward with two-way ability.
